Dr. Gabriel Aguilera to address Alabama World Affairs Council on Feb. 13

Dr. Gabriel Aguilera, associate professor of international security studies at the Air War College, will present “Venezuela” during the Alabama World Affairs Council’s February event on Feb. 13 at Troy University’s Montgomery Campus.

The event, which will take place in the Gold Room in Whitley Hall, will begin with a reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by Dr. Aguilera’s presentation. The presentation is free to members of the Alabama World Affairs Council and $20 to guests. Aguilera is a prolific author of articles who also maintains the blog, “Grits and Tamales.” His training is in international relations and Latin American studies. He has taught at several colleges and universities, including California State University, Chico, the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM), and Occidental College. His degrees are from Stanford University (BA), University of California, San Diego (MA) and Harvard University (MA & Ph.D.).

The Alabama World Affairs Council sponsors lectures and programs on current and recent events of national and international interest throughout the year with the aim to increase individuals’ knowledge of world affairs and how they impact the United States. The Council also serves as a platform to showcase some of the world-class faculty at Maxwell Air Force Base’s Air University. The Council has partnered with Troy University, bringing all Council events to the University’s Montgomery Campus.
